The second cause is called AVM, during which the arteries and veins meet in an abnormal way. It may be congenital but not hereditary and it is not yet clear why the risk increases in some people.

Brain hemorrhage can be fatal because it causes a cerebral artery to rupture, damaging the brain, and survival depends on how quickly the swelling and bleeding inside the skull is controlled. That is, for some people, the effects may be permanent, while for others, it may be completely healing.
